Ferrari’s new F150 (and it’s not a pickup)

February 01,2011

You may think that after Ferrari showed off photos of its upcoming station wagon, excuse us, shooting brake, next would be a pickup truck—especially after the new “F150” was announced. Fear not, this is not a Crewcab but rather, Maranello’s new F1 racer.

The 150 designation is a commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Germany, er Italy. The F150 is the first F1 racer to be revealed for 2011. The new aero regulations have changed the car’s shape significantly—no more double diffuser and blown rear wing, and no more F-duct. A hydraulically adjustable rear wing is now part of the package, as is the KERS energy-recovery system last seen in 2009.
