Toyota Vietnam had to apologize to its local customers after the Japanese carmaker faced the biggest auto recall in Vietnam’s history. What’s worse? Toyota tried to cover the recall up.
At the beginning, Toyota said that only 8,830 units of its highly popular Innova 7-seater MPV were affected by a recall concerning either over-responsive braking systems or improperly mounted camber bolts and seats.
However, on Friday, Toyota engineer Le Van Tach revealed that the number of faulty cars actually reached 65,703 units and even included the Fortuner SUV.
