Maxxis Tires announces Philippine offroad racing series

Maxxis Tires in cooperation with the National Association of Filipino Off-roaders (NASFOR) and Mobil automotive lubricants raises the bar in extreme off-road racing in 2014 with Maxxis 4×4 Cup.

Maxxis 4×4 Cup is a 12-leg extreme off-road racing series that will test the driving skills of local off-roaders in various man-made terrains in different parts of the country.

This event is graced by off-roaders from all over the Philippines. Maxxis 4×4 Cup aims to showcase the extreme performance of Maxxis mud terrain tires to all off-roading enthusiasts　and advocates in the Philippines.

The unique tread pattern on each and every Maxxis light commercial vehicle (LCV) tire exhibits a need to make sure that every surface that the tires come in contact with provide grip. Stone ejectors within the tread pattern provide protection against tread cap damage from sharp rocks, while large shoulder lugs and sidewall design provide unparalleled side bite when the vehicle is demonstrating extreme lean. Multi-edged knob design and sipe arrangement enhance traction on slippery surfaces, channeling water out of the tread and unto the terrain for virtually no-slip grip.

Maxxis and National Association of Filipino Off-Roaders (NASFOR) announced their team up for the Maxxis 4×4 Cup series, showing drivers, team principals, navigators, crew and spectators alike that Maxxis tires have that required clawlike grip to go over mother nature’s mud, water channels, rock and loose earth common of NASFOR tracks.

“Maxxis put a lot of efforts into the discipline of extreme off-roading here in the country. They are visible, their products are related to this discipline, and our partnership helps this discipline grow further, they [Maxxis] make it more professionalized, they show that they care about this discipline,” said NASFOR president Ramon To-Ong.

NASFOR members are also enthusiastic about the partnership. For example, Pampanga-based extreme off-roader Tonton Dungca claims that they – along with Maxxis’ sister brand CST – are a pillar of his consistent driving in NASFOR’s 2013 season. “They have solid six-ply construction at the shoulders, which allows me to lower the tire pressure without worrying about grip. You can go as low as four pounds per square inch with these tires, and they will still hold up after several days of extreme off-roading,” claimed Dungca.
