G stands for ‘Go anywhere’

THE AUTO Nation Group, distributors for Mercedes-Benz in the country, unveiled its new lineup of SUVs—the GLE, GLE Coupé and GLC last Monday at the Rockewell Tent. This lineup comes from a long line of SUVs that started from the G-Class (“G” stands for Geländewagen, the German word for offroad vehicle) in the 1970s and has since them captured the hearts and minds of off-roading and sports enthusiasts for over three decades.

According to Mercedes-Benz’s new worldwide campaign “Make the best of every terrain,” it builds on the success of the G-Class and expands its lineup by introducing three new models—each of which have been specifically designed to master the most demanding of any type of ground. Together with the G-Class, these four models together with the GLA, complete Mercedes-Benz’s new SUV lineup. These five SUVs has five distinctive personalities but armed with a unifying goal of mastering every terrain imaginable.

G-Class

The distinctive G-Class’ exterior look has remained unmistakable for over 35 years now. With minimally redesigned bumpers and extended fenders, the brand’s distinctive SUV icon through its latest model variant shows itself to be more dynamic and capable than ever before.

GLA

The Mercedes-Benz GLA’s raised level and distinctive flat roof line gives the vehicle a muscular and yet aerodynamic design. Its coupé-style lines blended well with a progressive SUV character to form a unique appearance. It is defined by more SUV elements such as the raised roof rails, an optical underride guard and robust, and black grain details.

THE GLC can handle difficult terrains without much difficulty.

GLC

For someone who prefers to have agility and flexibility with very urban functionality, the GLC is the best companion. Its urban civility is not to be taken lightly as the GLC can very easily master any difficult terrain without much difficulty. Its mix of sensuous lines, harmonious proportions, and clearly drawn feature lines makes the GLC an ideal premium urban roundabout.

GLE

The new Mercedes-Benz GLE offers a very flexible setup, thanks to its Dynamic Select controller by choosing a drive program that tailors the characteristics of the engine, transmission and steering, and to those of the suspension. From a choice of “Comfort,” “Sport” and “Slippery,” the driver can use their GLE in various terrain including that off the beaten track with its optionally available offroad engineering package featuring the “Offroad” and “Offroad+” drive programs.

GLE Coupé

The very visually impressive new GLE Coupé combines the sportiness of a coupé with the surefootedness of an SUV. Its high riding characteristic profile and wide track is complemented with a pair of athletic shoulders that lend the vehicle to an extremely individual presence. Its low body and flat roof gives a very reassuring center of gravity and handling almost similar to a sedan and the confidence of an SUV.

THE GLA: muscular and yet aerodynamic design
