Watch Your Car files: IWC Exhibits at Mercedes-Benz Museum

August 13,2013

International Watch Company (IWC) recently added an exhibition to the Mercedes-Benz museum in Stuttgart. Called “Silver Arrow meets IWC,” the display is about the “performance engineering” that the two brands share. Legendary Silver Arrow racing cars are showcased with the corresponding historic IWC timepieces.

IWC and the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One team joined forces in 2013, with the watch brand signing on as the Official Engineering Partner. Aside from providing Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg with some impressive timepieces, the partnership is meant to highlight their similarities. IWC points at that it has pioneered the use of materials previously unknown in watchmaking, such as titanium and ceramics. The miniaturization and precision engineering has made possible such products as the wristwatch-size Grande Complication.
