makati-mapsa-trafficTraffic enforcers in Makati City are set for a “make-over” to improve their people skills, and soon they will be wearing lapel cameras to promote transparency.

Mayor Abigail Binay has told the Makati City Development Council that providing cameras to Makati Public Safety Department (Mapsa)  enforcers was a top priority for budget appropriation of the city council.

“Often, it is difficult to rely on the testimony of either the enforcer or the apprehended motorist. Thus, we are tapping technology so that incidents involving Mapsa personnel can be well-documented,” Binay said in a statement last week.

“We will not only change their uniform, but also focus on improving their work skills and people skills through intensive training,” she added.

The enforcers’ lapel cameras would signify Makati’s shift to becoming a “smart city” that embraces technology in its policies and programs.

Another priority project mentioned by the mayor was embedding micro-chips in pet dogs registered in the city veterinary office to identify irresponsible owners who let them roam free.Erika Sauler
