Kawasaki Motors Philippines Corporation (KMPC) and India-based Bajaj Auto Limited recently affirmed their commitment to continue its strong partnership in the country.

Dubbed as the “Great Asian Connection,” KMPC and Bajaj, two of the motorcycle giants worldwide, will move forward with their strategic technical alliance and stamp their mark in the cycle industry.

In fact, its solid 13-year tech collaboration remains strong as ever, despite the latest split in India between Bajaj and Kawasaki Motors Pvt.

“We are very excited as we fortify our partnership,” said Bajaj Auto LTD. president for international business Rakesh Sharma in a press conference held at the Kawasaki office in Alabang.

Aside from Sharma, the well-attended affair was also graced by president and chair of KMPC Hisashi Nishizawa and vice president for sales and marketing Teench Layosa-Doval Santos, Senior Manager Motorcycle and Engine Company of Kawasaki Heavy Industries Jin Inoue, and Bajaj vice president for International Business (Asean) Dinesh Kulkarni.

Under their agreement, which Kawasaki and Bajaj signed and implemented in 2004, the alliance aims to change the motorcycle landscape in the Philippines by developing and introducing technologically advanced, fuel-efficient and dependable motorcycles.

“We want to assemble bikes that would cater especially to the middle- to low-income segments. “With Kawasaki’s expertise combined with our strengths, we know we’ll be able to manufacture world-class bikes,” Sharma said.

The availability of these bikes, according to the Bajaj head, will enable them to capture a huge market nationwide.
