August 08,2019

FOTON Philippines showcased its modern PUV entry, the F-Jeepney, during the start of the Modern PUV Caravan on July 4 in Pampanga. The caravan, which will have four phases to be held until January 2020, is pushing for the nationwide implementation of the government’s PUV Modernization Program.

It is organized by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Land Transport Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).

The launch of the caravan coincided with the simultaneous nationwide launching by the LTFRB of the new routes for the Modern PUV, according to Foton.

It noted the the F-Jeepney is powered by a Euro4-compliant Cummins diesel engine and is designed according to the guidelines set by the Philippine National Standards.

The F-Jeepney is equipped with GPS navigation, CCTV, dashcam, WiFi and an entertainment system. The Beep card is also integrated into the vehicle’s payment scheme. The F-Jeepney has fixed bench seats. It can accommodate 24 passengers (16 seated, eight standing).

“Foton Philippines understands the importance of being able to move a large number of people reliably and safely, as well as with care for the environment. And from this, we see the role of the F-Jeepney as a workhorse and multi-functional partner for the growing number of PUV operators in the country,” said Foton Philippines president Rommel Sytin.

Foton said it has already turned over its modern PUVs to transport cooperatives in Cainta, Rizal and Pampanga since the start of the PUV modernization program.

“It’s time to make a step forward with our entries for the PUV modernization. The F-Jeepney will not just provide a comfortable riding experience for the commuters. We also aim to promote the capabilities of the national icon of Philippine transportation,” Sytin said.
