Peugeot PH unveils new 3008 SUV variant, POE program

So much unlike the United States, under the administration of President Donald Trump, that is still in climate change denial, France is one of the leading countries in advocating climate change mitigation.

By 2050, France aims to be carbon neutral and two years ago, it announced that it will end the sale of gasoline and diesel vehicles by 2040. Its Ecology Minister Nicolas Hulot said that it continues to press on and keep up momentum on the Paris climate agreement, despite President Trump pulling out of the landmark deal inked in the French capital in 2015.

So in a special and exclusive event held at the residence of the French Ambassador to the Philippines, Peugeot Philippines revealed last Monday a new initiative as part of its long-term strategy to the press and VIP guests. It announced that it will initiate its Protectors of the Environment (POE) program designed to involve Peugeot customers and their children in a movement to combat climate change.

“Part of being a successful mobility company is making sure that sustainability is part of our policy,” POE Program Director Dong Magsajo explained. “With POE, we are taking a vital step forward in this direction,” he added. Under the program, it also introduced the program’s first Protectors of the Environment, Olivia and Amelia Manzano Reyes, daughters of video blogger and radio DJ Andi Manzano-Reyes and businessman GP Reyes.

Fruit-bearing trees were dedicated to both Olivia and Amelia during the pilot run of the program at the EVS Village Space in Parañaque City.

Our country’s tropical landscape makes the Philippines more prone to the hazards brought about by climate change, according to a 2019 study by the Global Peace Index. “At this critical time, everyone needs to be aware of what is happening to our planet in order to make those critical decisions. And we are doing our small part in making sure that our customers and their children have every opportunity to create lasting change,” Magsajo said.

Peugeot Philippines’ Protectors of the Environment aims to immerse its participants in the issues and challenges facing environmental conservation. Under the program, all new owners of Peugeot will be given the option to join the cause by volunteering in tree-planting activities in various locations, including private parks of selected communities, public lands reclaimed by the city governments in Metro Manila, and a 1 hectare space in the Angat Dam Reserve and Eco Park adopted and maintained by Peugeot Philippines. “We want our customers to realize that being a part of the Peugeot family is beyond just owning a vehicle. It means having the pride and honor of being a true steward of the environment,” added Magsajo. Aiding Peugeot Philippines’ efforts in these activities are the French Embassy, Dept. of Environment and Natural Resources, and Briquettors Association of the Philippines.

Reyes family tree planting activity

The launch of Peugeot Philippines’ green initiative is just a part of the brand’s global and long-term sustainability strategy. With the advent of electrification and autonomous driving, Peugeot acknowledges the need to evolve. “We at Peugeot envision ourselves to be at the forefront of the electrification and autonomous driving movement. The e-Legend concept signifies our constant research into developing new ways to make mobility more efficient and environmentally conscious,” Magsajo said.

It was also during this event that Peugeot Philippines introduced the New Peugeot 3008 Active Petrol. With prices starting at P1.89 million, this new variant steps into a new market segment for the French brand. “The launch of the 3008 SUV Active Petrol is exciting for us because we are finally able to compete fairly with the best products the industry has to offer. It also affirms the commitment of the Peugeot brand to the Philippines,” said Dodie Gañac, Peugeot Philippines’ Director for Sales.

The Peugeot 3008 DKR made automotive history for the brand with its 2017 and 2018 victories of its Dakar campaign. Its two wins succeeded in continuing the winning streak of its 2008 DKR which won in 2016. Its two-wheel layout proved that it doesn’t take a four wheel drive to win in one of the world’s toughest racing landscapes.

The Peugeot 3008 SUV Active Petrol encompasses all the defining traits of the award-winning SUV when it made its successful debut in Europe. Combining a sleek and modern design with innovative technologies, the Peugeot 3008 SUV elevates the driving experience to a whole new level. New to this iteration is a longer wheelbase, which translates to better legroom for rear passengers. “With this change, we have made the 3008 SUV Active Petrol more comfortable to all passengers, without compromising the original design of the product,” Gañac said. “The allure of the 3008 SUV lies in its design and driving comfort, so we made sure that customers will see and feel no difference between this variant and the rest of our product range,” he added. The interiors of the vehicle have also received an upgrade. For example, all seats are upholstered in a sophisticated Claudia all-leather trim. Elsewhere, the Peugeot 3008 SUV Active Petrol maintains its French DNA all throughout, from its signature i-Cockpit and premium finishes, to its high-performance 1.6-liter Turbo High Pressure (THP) gasoline
engine.
