After the success of the Fast and Furious franchise (more than $900 million at the box office), Sony is revving up a big-screen version of its Gran Turismo racing game. According to thewrap.com, Sony is hiring “Fifty Shades of Grey” producers Mike De Luca and Dana Brunetti to jump start its GT movie. The popular Sony Playstation game, soon to release its sixth version, was created by Kazunori Yamauchi and Polyphony Studios.
No word yet on whether on what the concocted back story will be for the movie version of the particularly story-free video game. Perhaps the story of how a McLaren F1 GTR gets called to back Japan by his old friend, a Nissan GT-R, sent via its emissary a Toyota 86 with red hair, er, roof.
In other news, Dreamworks will soon release “Need for Speed,” starring Aaron Paul of “Breaking Bad” and the Ford Mustang, while Legendary films will launch “Hot Wheels” the movie.
